Books for work….too many to count (seriously, i finished a dissertation and started reading for a new project. That’s a lot of reading!)

Books for pleasure….68

Favorite book read this year: Undark by Sandy Pool

To undo and undo this mandible would be to speak. Osseous tis-
sue; we’re sorry. We have nothing to say (we meant to say softly)
the slightest articulation, marrow, temporal bones. We’re sorry,
we have to say. Line after line, our sickness. Forgive us.

Books set aside due to distraction….13 (That would be the precarious stack on my night stand)
Books tossed aside in irritation/dissapointment….4
Books abandoned due to boredom….17

Biggest disappointment….Raj Patel’s Stuffed and Starved, which i would have enjoyed more if it had been half the length, and Susanna Collins’ Hunger Games trilogy, which, again, i didn’t loathe, but which never moved beyond the predictable and the ordinary.

Next year, i’m hoping specifically to read Lydia Davis’s Collected Stories, Roberto Bolaño’s 2666, Michel Tremblay’s Chroniques du plateau de Mont Royale, and Haruki Murakami’s IQ84.
